Notch Mountain is a two-summit peak that lies north of the popular Wall Lake area of the Uinta Mountains. On a typical summer day, large crowds are found around Wall Lake, but fortunately few people venture beyond Wall Lake to the mountains beyond. Notch Mountain is not a particularly striking mountain, nor is it difficult to summit. The true reward of Notch Mountain is its view from either the west or east summit. Notch Mountain's location acts as a gateway to the western boundary of the High Uinta Mountain Range, where all of Utah's thirteeners reside. Looking east from the summit, you see the High Uinta Mountain Range, and looking west you see the Wasatch Mountain Range.
